Ellora was great. It appeals more to men, I think. It is a series of caves, but it best known for a single Kailash, a temple / edifice carved from a single rock. From the top down. And it's like a whole mountain in size, almost. Fantastic. I think artisans of past eras were more talented than we are with out skyscrapers, etc.
Just have a look at what we saw.
^ Kailash
^ A deity trying to hold up the sky with its many arms.
^ Hathi on the Kailash, the trunks of which were smashed off.... yet again, by the Mughals. Sheesh.
^ From the Kailash.
^ A local woman, cooling herself.
^ Someone who perhaps did not want her picture taken.
^ A segment of the Kailash.
^ Here I am standing underneath one of the mani hathi statues.
Hathi again....
^ Aidan and his buddies with Sanjay, our tour guide.
^ Jonah having a peaceful moment.
^ Tara and two women who really liked her.
^ One of our friends and her daughter. They are from Texas - American mother and daughter... standing in front of a Islamic girl school's field trip to Buddhist caves. Now, where else will you ever have this.... only in India.
^ Don't forget the monkeys.
