Brief tour of the neighborhood

Our neighborhood is pretty nice, as you can see from the pictures. Only one home has preserved the boulders that are an inherent part of the scenery here in Hyderabad. One of the homes depicted is under construction - you'll notice that it's hard core concrete all around, very different from the light materials used in most American construction jobs.

Here is one of our small lawns in our house - it's called "the butterfly garden". There is loads of lantana and some other flowering plant all around this lawn, and it does attract butterflies. The picture below it is of our stairway down to the street. It's covered with flowers. This being the monsoon and the stairs being marble - we have all had that "right of passage" moment when we slipped down these stairs. Tara had it the worst, big bruises on the butt.

This is our view of the house from the stairs.

But, it does not matter how nice your neighborhood is. There will still be the dog going through a pile of garbage, and a broken down rickshaw on the end of the street. That thing has been there for like a week - the dog you see actually sleeps in it until about 7 am.
